Hello Everyone,
As many of us have experienced, the news that we or a loved one has cancer is devastating. Kristina faced this terrible news early this year. She is in the process of recovering from a double mastectomy and currently undergoing reconstruction surgery.
Kristina has a high deductible health insurance policy. Her out-of-pocket costs for breast cancer treatments including the many doctor visits, labs, and prescription drugs require copays. Additionally, she has coinsurance costs for the biopsies, the mastectomy, anesthesia, repair of a tendon after her mastectomy and finally, reconstruction surgery. Co-insurance costs are high, out of pocket costs have reached over $10,000, and there is still reconstruction costs and possibly radiation therapy to follow. We are waiting for news from the oncologists reviewing her case.
