HELP MY FAMILY EVACUATE GAZA

My name is Sarah Shaweesh, and I am trying to assist my family in Gaza to evacuate safely to Egypt.

Eleven members of my family, including children, are in urgent need of assistance to flee the escalating violence in Gaza. With their homes destroyed, infrastructure crumbling, and the threat of airstrikes looming overhead, their safety is in jeopardy at every moment.

My cousins Rami and Majed (brothers) and their wives (Faten and Rania) and children (Aboud, 3, Tala 9, Lama 10, Rand 11, Leen 15, Mohammad 15, Maged 17, are currently sharing their shell-damaged house with 35 other people who had their homes completely destroyed in air strikes.

Everyone in the house has endured severe psychological distress. One of the children, Rand, lost her best friend and cousin in an air strike that occurred when she was outside taking out the rubbish. Like every child in Gaza, Rand is living with profound trauma from her loss.

At the beginning of the war, my family didn’t want to leave Gaza; however, now the children are finding this unbearable and are begging for respite after months of bombings and warplanes constantly hovering above their heads. 

With each week, their situation is becoming more dire. The family faced winter with no windows, food or clean water. They are relying on aid, which is scarce.

To escape to safety, each family member needs at least $5000 (USD). Your contribution will directly support their journey to safely exit Gaza (Getting out of Gaza is not easy, and the various authorities have put a lot of fees in place) providing funds for transportation, temporary accommodation, food, and other essential needs. Every dollar counts in ensuring the safety and well-being of this family during this dire time.

The money collected via GoFundMe will be sent to our family members already on the ground in Egypt, who will organise everything needed to evacuate my two cousins, their wives and children.
