Hello,

My name is Jean Louis Yannick Omotonoko, a PhD student in Water Management and Hydrological Sciences, enrolled in a joint research program between Texas A&M University and Harvard University. Originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (a country where more than 50% of the rural population lacks access to safe drinking water, energy, and healthy food), I work on concrete scientific solutions to sustainably improve access to water, energy, and food in the most vulnerable communities of Central Africa.

My research focuses on the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus—an integrated approach aimed at addressing the interconnected challenges of climate change, population growth, and the degradation of natural resources.

❗ Why this campaign?

Due to the current political situation in the United States, the U.S. federal government scholarship that covered my university fees has been withdrawn, placing me in a situation of great uncertainty. Despite all my efforts to stay on track (loans, on-campus jobs, and emergency aid requests), I am no longer able to cover my Fall 2025 semester expenses.

That is why I am turning to you—with humility but also with hope.

Campaign Goal: $45,000

This amount will allow me to cover:

Tuition fees at Texas A&M University for Fall 2025 (while I search for a new scholarship)

Mandatory health insurance for international students

Housing, food, and transportation

Research-related costs (software, publications, travel)

And it will enable me to maintain my legal full-time student status.
