Many of you may know former favorite PACC dog Elmer and his very special mom Shirlyn Green. But for those of you who may not be familiar with these two, Elmer was adopted from Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) years ago by Shirlyn after he and his sister Ethel arrived at the shelter near death. (Ethel has since passed away, but Elmer has found the best love and life he could ever dream of with Shirlyn.) Shirlyn says Elmer is definitely a mama's boy and follows her everywhere. He is her protector, partner, and best friend.
Shirlyn is a long-time volunteer and advocate for the pets at PACC, and those who know her see her day after day giving and caring for the homeless dogs and cats at PACC. She is amazingly selfless and generous but she is also too proud to ever ask for help. But Shirlyn and Elmer need our help now. Elmer had surgery years ago for a torn cruciate ligament in the knee of his left leg. This surgery was successful, however, an infection has seeded onto the plate and screws which were placed in his leg and antibiotics are not working. This infection has caused Elmer to be uncomfortable and chew on his leg so now he’s stuck wearing a cone most of the time and not feeling well. He needs the plate and the infected tissue surgically removed so he can heal and get back to enjoying all those things he loves to do.
Please join me in raising funds to help Elmer get the medical treatment he needs. Obviously, Shirlyn will do whatever it takes to ensure he gets all the care he requires. But what a wonderful gesture it would be to give something back to such a kindhearted person like Shirlyn and offer support so a courageous and loving dog like Elmer can continue to live a long and healthy life.
All donations made on this fundraising site will be sent to VCA Valley Animal Hospital to pay for Elmer’s surgery and his recovery costs. Thank you for your compassion and generosity.
