Chicken Basket

Chicken Basket is a fascinating model that transforms charity into empowerment for women and their families. The primary farmers are women who ordinarily would not have the opportunity to work. They are trained to take care of chickens from infancy to the market and are provided with chicks feeds and medications, thereafter the company buys back the grown chickens and eggs. Additionally, women experiencing poverty are hired to slaughter and clean the chickens once the chickens become of age. The women sell dishes made from the parts that are not sold to hotels and businesses, which affords them a living to provide for their children. Chicken Basket is currently in solidarity with hundreds of women, impacting the lives of thousands in rural Kenya.
