Road to Sophomore Year
College or Bust.
Dear Very Kind Soul,
First and foremost, I would like to thank you for helping me experience my first year of college. Let me tell you, it was truly grand.
College feels like a surreal privilege—let me explain. It's a place that provides me with the tools I need to turn my fantasies into reality. I recognize that it’s a privilege because not everyone is given the opportunity to pursue this level of education. It’s an amazing experience for which I am eternally grateful for.
I’ve learned a great deal about my interests, and I can see myself working in the field I’m studying (which is film). Most importantly, I feel like I’m becoming better and more well-rounded in my craft.
“Every single one of you has something to offer; every single one of you has a responsibility to discover what that is.”
-Barack Obama.
Over the summer break, I had time to reflect on why I enjoy attending Long Island University and why I need to stay enrolled.
I enjoy attending college because I’m gaining the skills needed to live out my purpose. I’m becoming the person I want to be and need to be. In college, I’m exposed to a level of education I wouldn’t experience elsewhere.
I need to stay enrolled in college because, in the future, I’m going to elevate the quality of life for my family. As a child, I didn’t fully understand all the struggles and sacrifices my parents endured. As a young man I do. The veil of childhood was stripped from me when I came home for the summer break. I saw withered and tired human beings. It truly hurts when you know someone is giving you their all, but you feel like you’re not giving yours. You know you can give more, but you’re already giving a lot. That’s my relationship with my parents. I’ve been living life at 110%, but they’ve been living at 250%, giving everything to my siblings and I, leaving nothing for their own well-being.
I also need to stay in school because I want a well-paying job so I can help my family, as I mentioned earlier, and so I can help young people coming up after me, that may go through what I’m dealing with now. I have a dream, and to accomplish it, I need money. Thankfully, God has put people in my life who have helped me take steps toward my dream. But what about the young men and women who don’t have anyone in their corner? I want to be there for those who lack support because there’s nothing worse than having a dream but feeling like you can’t accomplish it. Thank God for putting you in my life, so I never had to experience that feeling.
“No matter what you want to do with your life, I guarantee you'll need an education to do it.”
-Barack Obama.
I have a dream. My dream is to change the world through film, creating narratives that promote confidence, positivity, integrity, perseverance, and kindness. I also dream of competing in the 2028 LA Olympics for fencing. These are not just dreams because I will make them a reality.
So, how would you like to support the next Spike Lee, an Olympic hopeful, and a future leader?
I need to raise $10,000 before September 3rd.
All funds will be allocated to paying off my past due tuition balance.
My ambitious goal is to get 10 people to donate $1,000 each.
If I raise $2,000, that will allow me to enroll and attend classes this semester.
If I raise $8,000, that will allow me to pay off past due balance, attend classes and live on campus this semester.
If I raise $10,000, that will allow me to pay off past due balance, attend classes, live on campus this semester, and get a head start on paying for tuition for the current fall semester.
Your support would be astronomically significant to my future. If you are not able to support me financially, I would greatly appreciate it if you could share this with someone who might be interested in supporting my fundraiser. Also, money is not the only form of support needed, if you have any words of encouragement or could keep me in your prayers, that would also be truly and greatly appreciated.
Best regards,

P.S.
I would also like to mention that I know it may seem repetitive to ask my community for financial assistance to help pay for my education. Please know I’m working to become self-sufficient, and if God is willing, this will be my last time asking for financial support with my tuition.
Soon, I’ll be crowdfunding to help with creating and shooting my first feature film! :)
