UMIAT OHANA- LAHAINA WILDFIRE DESTROYED MY HOME

Aloha, My name is Alley Umiat. I am the daughter of Mac-Arthur and Estrelita Umiat.

My parents like so many others, lost their home to the wildfires in Lāhaina. It took some time to track them down, but we are blessed to learn today that they got out in time and are safe. With limited time to evacuate, all of their personal belongings were left behind and engulfed by the fires. My heart is heavy and I’m completely torn. My childhood memories gone, my hometown is gone and the street I grew up on is gone.

I cry over the loss of beautiful Lāhaina town, cultural treasures, and precious lives. I am a Lāhaina girl, born and raised in Maui. My childhood memories are on the streets of Lāhaina now vanished. It’s with great sorrow to share that our home I grew up in has fallen to ashes I’m asking with Aloha in your hearts to please donate to my ohana. It will take time to rebuild and the process is going on they have been displaced until further notice.

I kindly ask for your help in donating to help get them back on their feet. From my family to yours every dollar donated is greatly appreciated. Please continue to keep my parents in your prayers while we process everything that has happened to our community. We will rebuild and restore everything we have lost.

MANY MAHALO
