A Mother Fighting Breast Cancer – Asking for Help for the First Time

Hi, my name is Rachida.

I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and it has turned my world upside down. I’m a single mom to a 14-year-old son who has mild autism. It’s just the two of us — we only have each other.

Right now, I’m in the hardest place I’ve ever been — mentally, emotionally, physically, and financially. My mental health is nearly nonexistent. I feel completely drained, both inside and out. I’ve never in my life asked anyone for help, and writing this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. But I don’t know how else to survive this.

I’ve been out of work for two months now, The weight of this diagnosis, while still trying to care for my son and hold myself together, feels unbearable at times.

I'm reaching out now because I truly need help to:

Keep a roof over our heads,Put food on the table,Cover medical bills and get to treatments,Make sure my son is okay through it all
