Hi Everyone!! I am editing this Update as we are desperate for more help! We raised $1500 of the $3000 needed for boomers treatment.
I am beyond happy to say he is now in his observation period. His bloodwork presents as if he were a normal healthy kitten. He is so mischievous! He steals everything! The other day he came downstairs with Jeremy’s prescription glasses! Jeremy had to now hide is smartwatch as Boomer had taken it several times. He steals socks, underwear and is obsessed with my hair ties. Lol he is hilarious.
During this observation period we have to get bloodwork and see the vet. It’s about $300 per visit. We are still behind in bills, we used those funds to buy the last two rounds of medicine and bloodwork.
Please if you could find it in your heart, (even your penny jar) we absolutely cannot get any further behind. The holiday is already tight but finding the funding for Boomer is imperative to our security.
Thank you all for the support you have given us. We are beyond grateful to have raised the funds we already have. It’s hard to ask for more help but we are at a crossroad that we can’t turn back from. Happy Holidays to you and yours and Thank you for reading this❤️
Many of you know we recently became a four-cat family. Charlie and Boomer have stolen our hearts! How did this happen?? Charlie (my girl with the mustache) repeatedly came across my FB feed. That mustache had me at hello! I made comment every time I saw her picture! Once I realized she was with Friends of Feral Felines, Maine, I had to meet her! That was the final sign, as we adopted our second son, Bogie, from them.
Upon calling I was informed Charlie was a package deal. She was part of a bonded pair… bet brother Boomer (an homage to Jeremy’s late Dad). Reluctant at first to add two more kitties to the mix, the universe had other plans.
It was love at first sight the moment Jeremy and I met these orphans. A week later ( after spaying and neutering) they became permanent members of the “Hay Pride”.
We noticed, within hours, that Boomer was not thriving like Charlie. He was lethargic, unsteady, warm to the touch and had hazy eyes. He could barely keep his eyes open. Our rescue was, and continues to be, so supportive. They have covered the cost of Four Vet.appointments, some bloodwork and two antibiotics to treat his upper respiratory infection. He showed minimal improvement. Testing and physical led to a devastating probability…FIP. I have posted a link below to understand what this disease is.
The mere thought of losing our baby, especially on the heels of losing Moxie (our dog) is unimaginable. Add a gut punch trying to console Charlie who would suffer the loss of her bonded brother… well it’s overwhelming.
We have a financial back story that would blow your mind but that’s for another time. We now know however, know we are facing treatment for at least 3 months. It is not FDA approved. It is extremely costly. Our rescue has connected us with a non-profit, FIP Global CATS (I’ve posted their info below) as we are desperate for help! We never anticipated the possibility of a sick kitten, nor had we had time to obtain kitty insurance (even if we had this is not covered). FIP Global CATS has and continues to be a wealth of information, and a mountain of support. They have provided us with initial medication and supplies! There is a long road ahead as we will need more medication and supplies, monthly bloodwork and Veterinary Care throughout this process. Treatment with their help will save us thousands but averages out to about $15 a day. This Go Fund Me is our only hope. Please consider covering a day of Boomer’s treatment, two if you can swing it! Heck even if you can offer a dollar it will help! The universe was right as most adopters would let him die but we are committed to saving our little Pride. Thank you all!
