Support Julie's Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
Julie Pleszewicz was happily awaiting retirement from the NYC Department of Education. With under 2 years remaining, she was excited about life after retirement. However, in March 2023, she was diagnosed with Cancer. She was forced to take a health sabbatical which had a tremendous financial impact, but she triumphantly beat cancer. As she prepared to return to work this September, she was given the news that the cancer was back, this time in her lungs. Julie is now undergoing 3 different kinds of chemotherapy to fight stage 4 lung cancer. She is unable to work and owes the Department of Education money for time she borrowed to fight this awful disease, loans she took out to pay bills while she couldn’t work, and the cost of buying back days to hopefully get her to her original retirement date, February 14th. She will be turning 55 and will have the age she needs, but unfortunately now, not the time.
Julie served the Staten Island community for nearly 30 years, teaching our children. Her husband, John Pleszewicz is the president of Mid Island Little League and continues to donate his time to our children. If you know them, you know what amazing people they are and how supportive they are to not just their family and friends, but the Staten Island community as well.
Please donate to help Julie fight this awful disease without the added strain of this financial burden. Any amount that you are able to donate would be greatly appreciated.
