EDIT! First Trisha's family and I want to thank everyone from the bottoms of our heart for the amount of love and generous donations we received to help get Uma well.
Second the surgery was a success and her spleen was removed.
Third, and best news of all it was not a cancerous mass. Uma is resting at home with her family and continuing to get to live her new happy life! Thanks again everyone who helped and sent well wishes their way!
Hi, my name is Heather and I am fundraising on behalf of my sister and her dog Uma.
Trisha met Uma at a shelter fundraiser and fell in love with her instantly. When she was available Trisha put in an application to adopt her. She brought her home in January of 2023.
Uma has had a really rough go of it in her short life. Uma was named by the shelter she was rescued by, and her name was kept because she is a fighter. Her whole life until January 2023 when Trisha adopted her, she has been fighting for it. Before she was rescued, She was used for bait in dog fighting, treated terribly by people, malnourished, and abused. Once she was saved by the shelter, she fought for he life to beat heartworm and heal her broken bones.
Trisha met her and fell in love with her kind, gentle spirit. Trisha wants to give this girl all of the love she deserves. Despite all of what Uma has been through, she still looks at the world with love and kindness. She is loved by Trisha, Tyler, and her brother Harley.
This week Trisha felt a lump in her side and took her to the vet.
The vet found a tumor in her spleen that needs to be removed. She was sent to a specialist to confirm and make a plan for removal. She will be going for surgery this week. They will remove the spleen and do a biopsy to see if there is cancer. We are hoping there won't be cancer found.
But so far, all of these costs have been a lot for her family.
Anything helps at this point, whether it's a dollar or more.
Trisha and her family love Uma with all their hearts and want to help her continue getting to live the life she always deserved. Times are hard for everyone but I wanted to show my sister it's okay to ask for help.
Especially since when able my sister is always trying to help animals in need.
