Help me from being evicted.

OMG, I can't believe this is happening to me. I fell behind in my assessment fees on the condo due to this damn pandemic. I patiently waited for homeowner's assistance through the government (Illinois Homeownership Assistance Program IHAP). It was supposed to begin in the fall of 2021 but got pushed back to the winter of 2021. It finally launched in the spring of 2022. I applied on the first possible day, April 11, 2022.

In the meantime, the condo board sued me and attempted to evict me. Through the help of legal aid provided to us by the government, I delayed the eviction while the application was being processed.

Today, I went to court and managed to delay eviction until August 30. When I returned home, I finally received two phone calls from IHAP informing me that since I was not behind in my mortgage, I only qualified for back property taxes. Because I own the condo, I could not get assistance in my back assessment fees, leaving me $17,000 in debt. This amount includes almost $5,000 in legal fees.

When I asked about this ridiculous shortcoming, IHAP told me I would have to wait for the next assistance program. Maybe at that point, they could address this outrageous oversight.

In short, Help! Homelessness through eviction is a devastating concept in a world where a program called IHAP is poorly defined. I have a deeper understanding of what it means to fall between the cracks.

Thanks in advance for helping. I know this is a large amount of money in these trying times, so if you could tell a friend that I don't know to contribute a couple of bucks, I may reach my goal.

On an up note, I currently have a job.
