Hello ello ello! On April 12th, I’ll be running a 112 km ultramarathon in Buenos Aires, my temporary home. I'll be chipping away at tarmac and dirt trails from 4 am to 4 pm—it's gonna get ugly real quick.
I’m raising money for the 6.6 million people in Zambia—my home country—who are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
Why?
Zambia is facing its worst drought in decades—a crisis fueled by climate change. Crops are failing, water sources are drying up, and millions are struggling to survive. And just as the crisis escalated, the Trump administration froze U.S. foreign aid for 90 days, making the situation even more dire.
Who am I raising for?
I'm raising funds for Action Against Hunger, an international org working on long-term climate resilience in Zambia. What I love about them is that they recognize that although this is a present-day emergency, it's not leaving anytime soon... So, their 10-year plan entails:
- Promoting climate-resilient agriculture (like black-eyed peas, which can grow in dry climates).
- Providing farmers with tools, training, and seeds.
- Connecting farmers to markets so they can sustain themselves long-term.
