Ultraman for Cancer Research
Donation protected
Thank you for clicking on my fundraising page. My name is Leanda Cave, and I’m raising money for the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (https://umiamihealth.org/en/sylvester-comprehensive-cancer-center/research) by shooting for my 5th triathlon world title and racing the Ultraman Triathlon World Championships on November 25, 26 & 27.
I was once a professional triathlete for 18 years. These days I coach and train athletes to reach their goals and potential. Throughout my career, I won 4 Triathlon World Titles in all distances (including the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii) except one - Ultraman: a 3-day triathlon comprising of a 6.2-mile swim and a 90-mile ride on day one; a 170-mile ride on day two; and a 52 mile run on day three.
The seed was planted in January of 2021 by my fiancé, Maiko De Andara. Unfortunately, I had to postpone plans as I was hit by a car door and fractured my pelvis while riding. So here we are, 2022, and it’s happening!!! I did my first Ultraman last month in Canada to qualify and finished 2nd overall without adequate training. I’m not going to go for the world championships without preparing well.
After racing the Ultraman Canada I have learned much about what it will take to win this world title and that this is a very self-serving goal. So I decided to make it less about more for more about helping to raise money for cancer research at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, spearheaded by Dr. Stephen Nimar.
I have no fundraising limit.
