Ultra Running for Greyhounds and Galgos

Want to join us in supporting two great causes? We are raising money for Galgos del Sol and Greyhound Pets of America (GPA) – MN.

To help raise money, Dave is tackling three 200+ mile endurance trail runs known as the Triple Crown of 200s. The first, Tahoe 200, is June 14-18 and runs around Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada mountains covering 200 miles and 36,857 feet of ascent. The second, Bigfoot 200, is August 9-13 in the Cascade Mountains near Mount St. Helens covering 208 miles and 45,563 feet of ascent. The final race, Moab 240, is October 11-16 in the desert and mountain ranges near Canyonlands and Arches National Park in Utah covering 240 miles and 31,564 feet of ascent. In total, that is 648 miles and 113,984 feet of climbing in a matter of 3 ½ months. I will be his crew chief meeting him at certain aid stations and making sure he is eating, drinking, changing shoes, napping, has the right gear for day or night, encouraging him. etc. Dave always says crewing is much harder than just running the race, and he is right!

Dave has trained long and hard for these events and has competed in numerous other ultra running races; however, this will be his most physical and mental challenge to date. Even though it will be the most rewarding on a personal level, the true reward for both of us is helping worthy causes. You all know our love for animals, especially greyhound dogs, and our dedication to helping them. So, we are asking you to join us in supporting the following two organizations dedicated to saving these animals.

Galgos del Sol

Galgos are a Spanish greyhound and are used as a hunting tool and are often considered disposable. That’s where Galgos del Sol enters the picture. They rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abused and abandoned galgos and podencos, as well as educate the public through social media and community outreach. Greyhound Pets of America (GPA) – MN

All three of our greyhounds were adopted through GPA-MN. They are a Twin Cities based volunteer run greyhound adoption organization, dedicated to placing retired racing greyhounds in loving forever families.
