In the midst of all that has been happening globally (yeah Coronavirus, I’m talking to you), one of our local families (Hugh, Michelle, Bobbie, and Bodhi Kenworthy) have had the added stress and pain of having both of their children experience recent medical emergencies. Two weeks ago, Bodhi Kenworthy, age 8 months, had to be flown to Children’s Hospital for a severe respiratory illness. He has since stabilized and was recovering at home when Bobbie, age 4, had to be emergently transported to Children’s Hospital for a complicated appendicitis. Michelle is currently in Denver with their daughter and Hugh is on his way to join them.
This family is one of our own. Both Hugh and Michelle were raised here, and their family is beloved in our community. Michelle is a revered primary care nurse here at Telluride Medical Center and had been working tirelessly to prepare and protect the members of our county during this current health crisis when her children became critically ill. She is an invaluable member of our team – our colleague and our friend – as well as a servant of our community, and our hearts are with her family during this difficult time.
We are reaching out to the community to humbly ask for your support for this family in any way that you are moved to contribute. Obviously, the expense of having two sick children who have required specialized care is daunting at any time, but it feels particularly overwhelming at this moment in history. Our goal is to support this family by removing some of the financial burden of their medical and travel expenses, so that they can focus on caring for their children and recovering from these events.
Many people have asked how they can support our staff right now, and we would like to communicate that you can support all of us by supporting this family in whatever manner you see fit. We recognize that these are uncertain times for everyone and that many people feel helpless. Any contribution that you can make, including your well wishes, is a priceless gift. We are all beautifully interconnected and what we do for one of us, we do for all of us.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for thinking of Hugh, Michelle, Bobbie, and Bodhi. We are all grateful to live in a community that takes care of each other, and would like to thank everyone in advance for even considering a contribution.
Please feel free to share this.
