Jessica's Fight for Recovery
Donation protected
Hi my name is Hamlet Zavala and I am 19 years old. I am the eldest son of three of Jessica Duran. My mother is 34 years old. We moved to America 8 years ago in order have a better life. My mom has always worked extremely hard for us and there's not one day that goes by that I'm not thankful for everything she has done for us. In September 2015 my mom had a severe stroke and fell into a coma. The doctors were pessimistic saying that she was not going to make it and that her brain damage was too severe for her to ever be able to function again. Now it is April 2016 and she is on her path to recovery and I'm sure she will be able to recover, even if its not 100% of how she used to be. Her being alive means the world to me and my brothers. She has woken up from her coma and she is currently in a rehab facility working on getting better. She is undergoing some therapy which is crucial to her recovery process. She is fighting hard everyday and I feel blessed to be able to have her in my life. Currently she is at Kentfield Rehab Facility which is only a 30 minute drive from us. I am grateful that she was so close to my brothers and I but unfortunately she will no longer be able to stay at that facility and will be transferred somewhere much farther. This will be hard on both her and us because we are not going to be able to see her everyday, depending on how far she goes. We want her to be able to recover as well as she can, so that she is able to eventually come home to us and not be at a facility. Therapy is the most significant part of her recovery process. Unfortunately it is extremely expensive and my brothers and I need help paying for her medical expenses. I want my mom to have the best care possible because she deserves the best chance at recovery, so anything that anyone is able to help out with is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
