Hi, my name is Kaylee. This may be a lengthy post but I feel so led to help these two, so please I beg you, read the entirety of this post. Liezel and Tanner Burggraf bought the house down below my home last summer and have completely remodeled the inside, they made it so beautiful. I was eager to meet them and ever since they have moved in I have spoken with Liezel every day. They are some of the most kind and genuine people you could meet. Both of them are very outgoing people and they have been a blessing to me since last summer. They excitingly just found out they are expecting a bundle of joy towards the end of the year.
Unfortunately the beginning of this week they received some horrific news after Tanner's routine doctor visit. His white blood cell count was extremely high, despite being without insurance they were advised to go to the ER. At the ER they were again advised to go onto Johnson City Medical Center where they received the devastating news that Tanner has CML (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia). He has been experiencing extreme fatigue and shortness of breath. He has been on oxygen for the entirety of the hospital visit. Tanner is only 30 years old.
Tanner will more than likely not be able to work, being in construction it requires a lot of physical labor and someone who is in full health. He was working 12-16 hour days, to provide for Liezel and their baby. His employer sadly did not offer PTO, or health insurance. -- They are in the process of hopefully getting some assistance with insurance and hopefully get him insured. Without insurance, treatment would cost around $11,000 a month, not including food, utilities, a mortgage, fuel cost too and from doctor appointments.
-- With all that being said, Liezel is from South Africa she came to the US in 2020 and met Tanner shortly after. And they fell head over heels for one another. She came on a work visa and they have been in the process of getting her full residency here in the US. Again, Liezel is expecting her first child at the end of this year, beginning of next year. She has been considered high risk due to a hemorrhage between her egg sack and uterus. As I mentioned prior, Tanner is the soul provider for them.
The cold truth is no one regardless of any circumstances should have to die because they are struggling with if this month they are gonna buy food/pay bills or pay for their cancer treatment. My heart aches for this young couple. Please if any of this touched you in any way, shape or form and you could find it in your heart to help this couple, please. They are not a charity case, they are real people who are humbly asking for help. -- and Tanner ask if you can not donate that you please be kind to the people around you, especially the ones who maybe do not have a good support system like some were blessed with. We are not promised tomorrow, so today if anything show kindness. Always.
