The island of Lesvos has always been a special meeting place of culture and beauty. Recently, with the war in Syria and with instability in parts of the Middle East and Africa, Lesvos has been an arrival point to Europe for thousands of refugees. Though the big picture seems overwhelming, there are smalls ways in which each of us can touch individual lives.
I will be traveling to Greece and will be teaching ukulele for the months of June and July. My goal is to purchase twenty ukuleles in Athens, which I will then take to Lesvos. My hope is that by putting a ukulele in the hands of a child, of a mother, of a teacher, or of a man who may have never had the chance to be a boy, we will be able to create simple moments of joy.
Each ukulele costs approximately 60 Euros or $80. For those who would like to sponsor one ukulele, I will bring you a set of Greek worry beads (kombolói.) For those who would like to sponsor two ukuleles, I will return from Greece with a small Safe Passage bag made on Lesvos for you. https://www.facebook.com/SafePassageBags
I thank you all in advance for your kindness, love and support!
