Amidst the humanitarian crisis caused by the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army, two families, the Kharchenko and Timofieieva families, are doing the best they can to flee the conflict and stay safe as their home city of Kharkiv continues to be overwhelmed and destroyed by Russian artillery and bombing. There are five children and four adults between the two families who desperately need any possible financial assistance after leaving behind almost all of their personal belongings, only able to take little more than the clothes on their backs.
This page includes photos of members from each of the families, a vehicle used to try and escape the violence, and short explanations written by each family about their current situation (English translated). During these unprecedented times, any contributions you can make to help these two families afford food and shelter would be more than greatly appreciated.
The Kharchenko Family:
Hello my name is Anna Serin. Me, my sister Natasha, my Mother Olga and my Father Alexander were all forced to flee our homes due to the relentless bombing of our home city of Kharkiv. We were only able to grab the bare essentials: some food, warm clothes and our documents. Leaving the rest behind. We are now headed West not knowing where or how we'll be forced to start over. My father had a horrible work accident last year, which fractured his skull and caused him to lose his eye sight in his left eye. We have no money to afford medical treatment for him. If we are able to cross the border we will have nothing but each other and the few possession we were able to carry with us. Any assistance with helping us in putting our lives back together would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless you all!
The Timofieieva Family:
Hello, my name is Katya Timofieieva. Me, my mother, and my two younger brothers aged 11 and 12 were from Kharkiv, Ukraine, but were forced to flee on the eighth day of this horrible invasion. When it seemed as if the bombs and missiles were targeting civilian infrastructure with ever-growing ferocity, we left with the clothes on our backs, a little bit of food, and whatever documents we could find. When we cross the border, we will literally have nothing but what we were able to carry with us, which isn’t much. If there’s anyone out there willing to help, we would be incredibly grateful for any assistance. At this point, we have only each other to rely on, not knowing where to live and what to expect from the future.
Please, help if you can.
