Hi, my name is Karen Omholt, and I’m once again raising funds for my dear Ukrainian friend Yulia and her family.

Three years ago, many of you helped me support Yulia and her two children after the war in Ukraine forced them to flee their home in Kyiv. Your generosity helped them find safety and stability during an incredibly difficult time. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who contributed.

Today, the war continues, and so do the challenges. Yulia’s son, Vladimir, is now 17 years old and living in Ireland. He cannot return to Ukraine because, as a young man, he would be immediately drafted into the military. Like any mother, Yulia is doing everything she can to protect her child, but the financial strain of supporting him from afar is overwhelming.

Vladimir is enrolled in school and working hard to build a future for himself in safety and peace. Yulia needs ongoing financial help to cover his tuition and basic living expenses so he can remain abroad and continue his education. These costs have become increasingly difficult for her to manage alone, especially as the war drags on with no end in sight.

I adopted my daughter Sasha from Ukraine in 2000 and met Yulia during that life-changing trip. She played a vital role in helping me bring Sasha home, and I’ve never forgotten her kindness, wisdom, and support. Now, I feel it’s my turn to be there for her.
