Hi, my name is Darya Kopylova or Dasha. I was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. My parents, relatives, and friends are currently in Kyiv, hiding in shelters from bombs and shelling. The war in Ukraine is having devastating consequences on the lives of Ukrainian people; consequences that will reverberate for years and decades to come.
As many people flee the fire emblazoned country, there are still many more that stay behind. Among them are the patients and doctors of the Pavlov hospital, a psychiatric clinic in Kyiv. More than 1,000 patients are taking shelter at the hospital, among them is my mom. The staff have moved into the hospital with their families to be with the patients around the clock. These heroic doctors and nurses find themselves on constant alert, ready to scramble at the sound of an air raid siren — not to mention the start of actual shelling — as they race patients into the protection of a bunker below
In many cases, patients’ relatives who previously provided support had to make a hard decision to leave the country. There are proactive volunteer organizations that help by bringing food and drinking water to the hospital, risking their own lives. However, the situation can escalate at any time, leading to a humanitarian catastrophe like in Mariupol and Chernihiv. The hospital is in desperate need of medications, such as antidepressants and antipsychotics, and other medical supplies.
At this difficult time, I am asking you to please donate to support Ukraine’s most vulnerable people. It's essential to remember those who are trapped in the country during this war.
All donated funds will be sent to the Pavlov Hospital to help meet patients’ needs in medication, food, and other essentials. Address: Kyrylivska St, 103, Kyiv, Ukraine, 04080.
You can visit the link below to watch the most recent video from the hospital dated March 18, which is my mom's birthday:
I appreciate your help and support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
