Ukraine Hockey Player - Relocate to Canada

Donation protected

UPDATE ( Jan 20,2023):
Misha and Zina have arrived to Caronport... Dec 18, 2022 on a cold -46 evening in Regina, Sask! Over the past four weeks, we have been able to gather donations to cover their hotel stay until an apartment came open, and once the apartment became available it has now been fully furnished with used furnishings from kind folks across the region!

The tough part of the last month since they arrived is that there are still family members back in the refugee camp in Poland that has yet to get their visas. The 1-year-old daughter, 9-year-old daughter, father and grandmother. We hope that the government officials in charge of this application will be able to make it possible for this family to reunite. At that time we will need to raise more of these funds to cover their airfare.

Their hometown back in Ukraine (Dnipro City) was hit by a missile last weekend taking 40 civilian lives in the process. It has been hard on the family to see their nation being torn apart, but they are extremely thankful for the new opportunities that Canada is providing for them!!!

Donations from this campaign with continue to help with rent, groceries, hockey fees, hockey equipment, apartment rent/utilities, tuition costs etc. We are extremely thankful for the publicity from many news outlets and look forward to sharing their on going story of new life here in Saskatchewan.

ORIGINAL POST:
Hello, my name is Barret Kropf, and I have had the honour of coaching hockey for 30 years in various places worldwide; it has created contacts and a community for me throughout the game. Last week I was asked by a member of the international hockey community if I could help a young boy in Ukraine. How could we say no!

Misha is a 14-year-old student who loves hockey, and the war has halted his education and hockey opportunities. He and his mother plan to settle in Canada in the coming weeks, and we want to help facilitate that journey. We will continue to work with them on the proper immigration paperwork needed while also locating the adequate housing and job required to start their lives over here in Canada.

Last week their community lost heat and power due to the ongoing war that has ravaged their community! We are doing our best to expedite the process to get them into a safe environment, and we want to extend the invitation to as many of you as possible.

As such, we are raising money for their relocation and establishing them in Saskatchewan (Travel, housing, language training, school fees and hockey expenses).

Thanks so much for helping make this a reality for the family!
