UkeLayla Film Fund

Hello everyone! We are Team UkeLayla, a small group of 14 dedicated students from the University of Central Florida Character Animation Program.  Since Fall 2016, we have been working towards the completion of our student film UkeLayla, coming this April 2018. 


With UkeLayla, we want to share a beautiful, fun, and heartwarming story to an audience of all ages, from all walks of life. Our film follows Layla, a young girl with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). As she struggles to be understood, she gains a friendship, a deeper understanding of the magic of music, and a newfound respect for herself. Our hope is that we will spread awareness for CAS and provide representation in film for children with CAS.

We are undergraduate students, meaning that we do not receive any sort of budget or funding for our film. In other words, for 2 years, 14 individuals have poured their hearts and souls into the creation of this film, volunteering to work over 40 hours a week with no reward other than the satisfaction of seeing our creation come to life. Our dream is to share a heartwarming story that will inspire audiences and spread CAS awareness all over the world. For that dream to become a reality, we need your help!

We humbly ask you to help us raise the funds we need to submit UkeLayla to film festivals all over the world. Your donations will be used to help us pay for festival entry fees, promotional prizes (which will go straight to you), our composer, and any other expenses we may need to cover as we continue producing our film.
