Emergency Funds for Clean Genes Tornado Damage

Donation protected

We've started this fundraiser to help Sara and Jason Kleinhans, from the aftermath of the tornadoes that ripped through middle Tennessee. Sara and Jason own and operate Clean Genes Farm in McEwen, Tennessee.
A tornado swept through the farm and destroyed four of their greenhouses. These greenhouses had heaters, fans, gas lines,
electrical, metal framework, irrigation lines, plastic covering, and the next 2 months supply of lettuce and other greens in the ground.

Sara and Jason have invested their life savings into these greenhouses to supply the community, restaurants, markets, family, and friends with fresh produce, year-round. That said, their  farm that has gained a lot of traction and are still building their business. They could really use some financial help during this burden to get them through
the next couple months of rebuilding.

They aren't in a rush to get new greenhouses up as springtime is almost here. They were relying on those greens in the ground to get
them through the next couple of months. They're income is solely reliant on farm income.

When they started the farm, they exhaustedly applied to about 8
different farm insurance companies for insurance in the event of an emergency, such as this. They weren't approved for several different reasons - mainly because they aren't a typical farmer raising cattle,
or corn, soybeans, etc. They are more of a modern farmer doing micro greens and other produce in greenhouses, and insurance companies weren't used to this type of farming, thus, shooting them down. They
farmed on anyway.

Sara and Jason are so grateful for the outreach from friends, neighbors, customers, people who don't even know them, all wanting to help. They feel so loved and uplifted during this difficult time!

They are hoping to raise about $5,000 to take the burden off while they cleanup and rebuild. No dollar amount is too small, anything helps. Sharing this fundraiser on social media is also a big help. Help is needed as soon as possible. They were relying on all the greens in the greenhouses for next 2 months income.

Sara and Jason have a goal to get greenhouses back up and going by the
end of 2020, but that's not an immediate need...just the goal:)

Thanks to everyone who has reached out, they will be planning some days for people to come out and help clean up the debris. Sign up to their newsletter, which is where farm cleanup info will be released  -
