HELP TABBY BEAT CANCER!

On behalf of Tabitha Stills family, friends and co-workers, we are setting up a gofundme page to raise funds to help alleviate the medical costs during this challenging time.

Tabby has been a lifelong resident of “The Region”. She attended college at Purdue Calumet where she was an exemplary student and athlete on the women’s basketball team. After completing 2 degrees in Hotel/Restaurant Management and Fitness Management, she was hired in 1998 as an Exercise Specialist for Purdue Calumet Fitness Center. She has been employed by Purdue Northwest for 24 years. Tabby is a loving wife, mother of two beautiful children, two wonderful stepchildren, and five grandchildren and is a friend to many. She is a champion for many groups of people including the PNW Community of students and patrons. The Silver Sneakers Class she teaches meets several times a week at PNW Fitness Center. The class is so well attended there is barely enough space for the group! Her class exudes the motto: Work Hard To Be Strong To Stay Strong! Tabby also has been a leader in opening the doors for the School City of Hammond’s Special Needs Job Interns. Our special needs students also work out at PNW Fitness Center utilizing cardio and weight training machines. Again, Tabby was instrumental in helping set up this opportunity. She has encouraged the growth of this program and has been a proponent of inclusion for all. These are only a few examples of how she enriches the lives of others. Her quest for health, wellness and happiness for all is evident throughout her day.

Shortly before Christmas of 2022, Tabby (47) was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer, multiple myeloma and then also diagnosed with leukemia. She is currently undergoing a comprehensive, intense cancer treatment program at UIC. Treatment will include rigorous chemotherapy followed by a stem cell transplant. This diagnosis was not only an uninvited surprise but one that can spin one’s world out of control. One of Tabby’s first comments, when I reached out to her, was, “I was totally blindsided by this one. I’m just ready to get the ball rolling and conquer all the obstacles along the way.”. This is Tabby…climbing mountains and searching for the hidden flowers along the way.
