About 3 years ago, my husband Val Davis went down on a baseball field and needed a new heart. Last year, he received his new heart. We thought our troubles were going to be over, but unfortunately, I myself have fallen with congestive heart failure. It's unexplained, but most likely related to my father, who died at 41 from heart disease. However, my disease is way different. My arteries and vessels are clear, but my heart muscle itself is dying rapidly. When I first went to the hospital, I found out I had a 39% ejection fraction, and now it's down to 17%. They placed a pacemaker, defibrillator, and left bundle branch block machine in my heart, hoping that would help the ejection fraction increase, but it's still decreasing. So, I'm on the fast track to a heart transplant.
Unfortunately, they have stipulations and criteria for a heart transplant. It's not easy to become a recipient of a heart. They want to make sure the person that gets it really uses it, and I understand that. I'm only so someone else could use it just as well. One of the stipulations is that I have $10,000 to $15,000 in the bank to decrease financial stress, and I need to raise money to do that. So, I'm hoping I can rely on my friends, family, and the community to help.
I'm doing a fundraiser called Copper Dropper. I've discovered from some neighborhood young people that copper is valuable, so I figure lots of people have a little copper, brass, or aluminum laying around that they could drop off, and I can turn it in for the money for my fundraiser. My drop place is 2002 South 3rd Avenue, Yakima, Washington. If you have any questions, I appreciate your support. I'm a grandma of three and want to be around to see them grow. Please help me. Thank you.
