Hi everyone. My name is Marwa Khamash. I moved recently from Gaza refugee camp in Jordan to the UK with a full scholarship to study a masters degree.
I recently finished my masters and I have set up this go fund me to help gather funds to pay for a work visa. This will allow me to stay in the UK for the next five years. The alternative is going back to Gaza camp in Jordan, where I am stateless, banned from working, and denied many basic rights.
My current job in Birmingham has offered to sponsor me for a work visa, however I have to pay for it. The cost is £4,500 and it will go up to £5,175 by January 2024. I created this campaign hoping to get help to raise the money to pay to the Home Office, allowing me to stay in the UK where I can work and live.
Gaza refugee camp is not a safe place and missing life basic needs. Refugees from Gaza have been trapped there since 1967. Unlike other international students, I don’t have any financial support from my family still live in the refugee camp and are banned from work. If I cannot pay the visa fees, I wont be able to stay in the UK and will have to return to this life in Jordan. Getting this visa will help me to work in the UK for 5 years before getting residency.
