Sue's Recovery Fund

The women who has always caught us when we fall, now needs some catching of her own.  Sue Cornwell's Go Fund Me account has been set up on her behalf by her three children, Melissa, Michael, and Brandon.  With your help, we can lighten the burden incurred from her recent laryngectomy surgery, and help her on the path to recovery.  All funds raised will go directly to medical and recovery costs which insurance will not cover.

For those who are not familar with our Mom's story, thirty-seven years ago, while pregnant with her first child, she was diaognosed thyroid cancer.  Shortly after giving birth to her daughter Melissa, she underwent extensive radiation treatments.  The radiation caused severe damage to her larynx and surrounding tissue.   Unfortunately, over time, she has lost the total functionality of the larynx.  On January 4th, Sue underwent her 12 hour laryngectomy surgery.  The surgery was preformed at UCLA Medical Center where she was supported by her freinds and family.  She is now in recovery and has a long road of healing and ahead of her.

 As recommended by her doctors, as well as by her friend Michelle, who has successfully recovered herself from a laryngectomy, Sue should be drinking and using Alakline water.   The alkaline water helps keep a healthy enviornment within the body, for optimal healing after surgery.  After, weighing the pros and cons of different ways to provide our Mom Alakaline water, the most economical for the mid to long term is installing a system directly under her sink that is tapped out of a faucet, for drinking and washing produce.  Here is the link to the product we hope to install in her kitchen as soon as possible.

Further, our Mom cannot eat solid foods for the first two or more months of recovery.  She still has her G-tube (feeding tube into stomach) and will receive all nutrion through this until she heals sufficiently and relearns how to swallow again.  We are hoping to gather enough funds to purchase two months of whole food based meal replacements for people with feeding tubes, until she is able to buy, prepare, and blend her own foods on her own.  These whole food prepared meals will replace the chemical ridden canned supplements that the insurance companies deem "ok".  These are blended meals packed with real food proteins and veggies.  They are dairy free,  our mother has a dairy senstivity, and the canned food supplied by insurence company is not.  Here are some sources we hope to order from.

Lastly, our mother will be burdened with major medical bills, of all costs not covered by insurance.  Her income only comes from disabilty and she has no additional support.  We hope to allivate some of these medical expenses and associated stresses, by aiding in the payment of these substantial medical bills.
