Hi, I'm Seth and I'm raising £1,500 to start my medical transition.
I've known I was trans since I was 11. Now, at the age of 16, I'm starting Sixth Form in a couple months and I want to be fully perceived as male. I've never really had trouble passing physically ever since I had my first haircut, but my voice always lets me down. This is why after 5 years of struggling with dysphoria, misgendering, and mental health issues derived from my transition, I want to finally start my journey to medically transition into a man.
When I first realised I was transgender, I had just started secondary school, and the journey to find out who I was turned out to be very slow. In October of 2021, I chose my name: Seth. It fit me well and I liked the way I felt when people referred to me by it, but I had another issue. During the early stages of my social transition, I couldn't look at myself in the mirror, I hated listening to my voice, and I disliked all the clothes I wore. This took an intense toll on my self-esteem and overall mental health and, regrettably, I began self-harm. Nowadays, although the dysphoria has gotten more manageable, I still shower with the lights out, and sometimes can't listen to recordings of myself without feeling sick. I am now just over 10 months clean from self-harm, and although I still get urges, I push them down because I have amazing people around me who I can talk to. I'm choosing to fundraise for this now as the NHS waiting list is 5+ years, and my family alone cannot pay to go private. Any amount helps and I'm forever grateful to anyone that donates. <3
