We appreciate your prayers, love and support!

Jayda is a funny, loving and energetic, 11 year-old girl who has enjoyed the joys of childhood laughing, playing and loving on her 2 cats, Ashes and Winter.  Her smile, intellect and inquisitive nature will light up the room and make anyone who is present laugh and smile.  She has enjoyed being a part of the youth dance ministry in her church and also loves to craft and do all kinds of creative activities.

Jayda - prior to diagnosis

On July 10, 2020, Jayda was admitted to the hospital as a result of the discovery of a mass that was found on her spine. For those that know her and have been following her journey so far, you know that this has been a whirlwind of events that have transpired over the past few months.

This news was unexpected and an incredible blow to the family in the midst of times where things already seemed to be chaotic just keeping up with all of the changes that have been transpiring in the world as we speak, in addition to being in the middle of the COVID 19 pandemic.  We went from solely focusing on ensuring that we were doing all that we could to stay safe in the quarantine situation to finding out this difficult news that started off as back pain for Jayda.

As a result of a few trips back and forth to the doctor, is where her parents, Rodney and DeShay White would first hear that she had scoliosis, which led to MRI scans of her back.  Those scans would lead them to learn that their child did not have scoliosis after all, but instead had a mass on her spine that was causing the pain she had been experiencing.

Prior to doctors making decisions about surgery on Jayda’s spine, they first wanted to do further scans of her body to ensure that the cancer had not spread to other parts of her body.  As a result of those additional scans, is where they learned the news that would be the toughest news of all, which was not only was there a mass on her spine, but that there was a mass on her brain as well. Her official diagnosis was a stage 2/3 Ependymoma that had metastasized to her lower back.

As a result of lots of prayer, doctors, nurses, family and friends, all rallying to be in support of Jayda’s surgery, healing and treatment, she was able to have to 2 successful surgeries, one on her brain, the other on her spine. In surgery they were able to safely remove 98% of the brain tumor and all of the mass on her spine. We are thankful to God for successfully bring Jayda through the surgeries.

The surgeries however, was only phase 1 of her healing and recovery process.  Phase 2 of healing is receiving 30 radiation treatments to her brain and spine. She is currently more than half way through treatments.  Once the treatments are complete, we will get another set of scans that prayerfully will confirm that God has healed her.

We will continue to provide updates of Jayda’s progress along the way.  As we rally to support Jayda along with her parents Rodney, DeShay and her 2 sisters, we most of all ask that you join in and support the family with your prayers.  We truly believe God is a healer and will lead and guide the doctors and family through this journey.

Please join us in this fight to beat cancer and to let Jayda know that we love and support her every step of the way!  We thank you all so much for your prayers, love and support!
