Help Support My Dad Through His Recovery

Donation protected
My father is one of the strongest men I know. Over the years, he has faced battles that would have broken many—he beat cancer once, survived a triple bypass, his cancer has returned in his prostate then showed up in his bones so he has cancer for the rest of his life, making this journey even more difficult., and now, at 82 years old, he is fighting harder than ever. Recently, he endured a devastating series of medical emergencies. Due to a lack of circulation in his leg, he had to undergo major vascular surgery, which left him with staples running from his upper thigh to his ankle. Despite every effort, he lost all of his toe, and the doctors have warned that if his healing doesn’t go as hoped, he could face losing everything below the knee.

In just a month and a half, he has had five surgeries—three of them in only two weeks. He nearly lost his life after one of these surgeries and had to be rushed back into the operating room only two hours later. This long, grueling process has broken down even the strongest man I know. For the first time in my life, I’ve seen him cry—again and again. The emotional and mental toll of not being able to do for others, as he always has, weighs heavily on him.

My mom has been his rock through it all. She is a true pillar of the community—always giving, always helping. She even came out of retirement to return to work, just so she could secure better medical coverage for him. For decades, she has served on committees and boards to make life better for others, but now, they are the ones who need help.

Right now, my parents are facing mounting needs. My dad requires special medical supplies, and one of the most urgent things is a medical recliner chair that can safely lift him to his feet—something that would give him back some independence and comfort, but it’s very expensive. Their home also needs major accessibility updates: the bathroom must be remodeled to include a proper shower on the main floor, since right now the only shower is in the basement; and the three steps leading to the main floor need safer rails on both sides so he can get into the house with more stability.

My mom still has a deductible to meet before his medical care is fully covered, and with everything happening at once, the expenses are overwhelming. They have both spent their lives giving to others—helping their family, their friends, and their community. Now, I’m asking for help on their behalf.

Any support will go directly toward making their home safe and livable for my dad, covering medical supplies, and helping them face the long road ahead. Your generosity will not only ease the financial burden but also remind my dad that he’s not alone in this fight.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting in any way you can.
