Hi,
My name is Tracy Ozack. I am starting this fundraiser for my daughter in law, Dawn Ozack. But not only for her, but for my son and grandsons as well. After testing positive for Covid19 a few months ago, Dawn was still having difficulty breathing. A chest xray detected a mass in her left lung. Following a biopsy, it has been determined the mass is cancerous.
But if that were not enough, she has multiple medical issues that need attention. No one can tell you better than she. So attached is her post from today after her first visit to Moffitt Cancer Center.
❤UPDATE from Moffitt:
"Let me start off by saying THANK YOU to all of you that have sent me Prayers and your continued support. This has been difficult to say the least. I am still numb and in disbelief.
Moffitt was amazing and extremely OVERWHELMING! It was like a combo of an airport/amusement park set up but very organized. That place is absolutely HUGE! But I know I am in good hands.
Before they can start anything I have to have an IVC Filter placed in my groin to prevent Blood Clots from going into my lungs/heart. Since I have had a history with Blood Clots, they need to do this since I am High Risk.
Then the surgery will be removing 3 out of 5 segments of my Left Lung + Lymph Nodes. Said that will be about 3 Hours give or take. They have to deflate my lung to do it and they put air back in it. I will be in the Hospital for 2-4 days depending how I do with pain and my Lung healing. I will have a drain tube in my chest, if it does not heal or air up on its own, I will go home with the tube and have to come back to remove it. 3 incisions will be made as this is going to be a Robotic Operated Surgery ( I said "Like a video game?" LOL).
High Risk concerns are my ITP (Low platelets) and Blood Clots.
They also mentioned that I will need to revisit having my 3rd Spleen removed - again. Still Anemic and working with that issue.
I have an appointment with a Neuro Surgeon 3/17 for something called a Chiari Malformation that they need to address as well. As if all of the above is not enough on my plate.
So this is pretty much the plan at this time. The scheduler is supposed to be calling me soon to set up the surgery as he wants to do this rather soon.
Thank you all again. I wanted to be sure to update you all at one time as it is rather overwhelming for me still.
I am not going to lie - I have been through a LOT in my 40 years. But hearing the procedure and knowing the what ifs - I am terrified!
I tried my best to take notes and remember everything. If I missed anything."
Though Dawn does have insurance, deductibles and copays are adding up. Then add in loss of work for how ever long her journey takes. They're main concern should be Dawn getting better, not worrying about copays and bills.
I know times are tough and not everyone can donate. So any and all are much appreciated. And sharing is caring.
Thank you all in advance and I will update everyone here as we know more.
