on October 19th 2025 it was 2:14pm in the afternoon on a Sunday afternoon I was semi asleep in bed when I woke up to a fire in my kitchen corner which turned into a bigger fire quickly. As quick as I could I went to my bathroom and grabbed a big bucket filled it with water and ran back and fourth throwing water so it would stop or not spread quick. My mom and I were doing our best to put the fire out. She got hurt in the midst of it all. In us doing so it brought down the fire completely there was only smoke. By the time the FDNY came they determined it was a trash fire.

I'm mainly concerned for my mother's safety and the safety of my partner. I want us to be safe.

My Super is trying to claim that this was not an accident and deeming it that someone threw something hot in the trash making it intentional. When I was explaining my frustration my super wanted to say he understood and when I further expressed my concern he said "you want to cry to the city of NY" which is crazy for someone who's been renting for 24 years .

I am deeply devastated, this was my childhood home and the home my mother came to this country to start her life and build a better one for me. I am saddened and I ask that you find in your hearts to assist me and my family in the time of need. I've never experienced anything like this in my life.

Any Funds provided will be used to keep us off the streets, keep us fed and clothed for as long as we can until we find a permanent place.
