Help Give Irfan Laghari the Dignified Farewell He Deserves

On May 20th, during a peaceful sit-in protest against controversial canal projects and corporate farming in Sindh, Irfan Laghari tragically lost his life after being shot during a violent police crackdown.

What followed added unimaginable pain to an already grieving family: amidst heavy police presence, Irfan’s body was taken by the Sindh police and never returned. According to local reports, he was buried without the knowledge or consent of his family—in an undisclosed location, treated as an “unknown person,” far from his ancestral graveyard.

His family, many of whom were in police custody at the time, were denied the basic right to perform his final rites or say their goodbyes.

We are calling on the global Sindhi community and compassionate friends everywhere to help us raise funds for:

• A proper, dignified funeral and possible exhumation or reburial in his ancestral land

• Financial support for Irfan’s young daughter and grieving family as they face this painful and unjust loss
