UICCP Honors Choir Philly Trip
Donation protected
UICCP Honor's Choir is going to Philadelphia in April of 2015 to compete with choirs from around the nation. Help us get there!
Our school is a member of the Noble Network of Charter Schools in Chicago, Illinois. 82% of my students are on free or reduced price lunch, and over 80% of them will be first generation college students. Most recently, 100% of the first graduating class from our school was accepted into four-year universities. Their ACT score composite ranks them 7th in the city of Chicago (when compared to the selective enrollment schools) and first in the city when compared to non-selective enrollment schools.
There are 25 students in Honors Choir, our school's top choral ensemble. The majority of these vocalists had never studied music prior to enrolling at UICCP. In just two to three years, these students have learned to sing, read, and perform choral music at a level which meets and exceeds that of many high schools around Chicago and the state of Illinois. We are hoping to expand our horizons by exposing ourselves to choirs from around the country at Philadelphia's "Festival of Music."
We have three main costs to cover: Airfare, Hotel, and Festival Registration. An estimate for the cost of each for 25 students and 3 adults is listed below:
Airfare, round trip from Chicago to Philadelphia: $11,788
Festival Registration: $2605
Hotel Stay, 2 nights: $1872
We plan to host a series of fundraising events and each singer will be paying for a portion of their trip, but we need as much support as we can get!
