This is a wish; a request; a prayer; hope in action.
My cousin Colleen Woodard has been diagnosed with a rare debilitating progressive disease called Amyloidosis. It causes wide spread multi organ failure through the abnormal accumulation of amyloid proteins and requires extensive immediate medical treatment. She is in renal (kidney) failure. This disease has also begun to attack her liver, heart, skin and lungs. Treatment will require chemo therapy, dialysis, extensive medications, tests, blood work, procedures, etc. However, there is no cure. Colleen is currently unable to perform daily tasks. She is hoping to qualify for disability but if she does this will take some time to go into effect and will only be a fraction of her former pay. This will also lead to eventual loss of her health insurance. As it is right now, the copays and premiums are unaffortable. We are striving to provide her with the best quality of life and medical care possible.
Colleen is the closest I have ever had to a sister. We grew up together, being silly and laughing, sometimes crying, but it was always wonderful. She is the most kind, loving, compassionate person you will ever meet. She knows no strangers and loves all equally. She has overcome so many incredible obstacles in her life. We need her to overcome this one. She has devoted the last many years to being a drug/alcohol counselor and touches the hearts of everyone she encounters. She is the joy and light of our family. If anyone deserves a helping hand it is Colleen. We are humbly asking for your help to ease her already difficult journey. She is in dire need of assistance, especially financial at this time. EVERY and ANY amount will help.
