Hello all,
I'm not sure where to begin with this one.
As all of us know, the COVID-19 pandemic has been hard on everyone. When this all began in March of 2020, I was never thinking we would still be experiencing all of this in January of 2021.
For me, things really could have been different going into this latest restaurant shut down. I, along with many other people in the restaurant industry, have been completely out of work since mid-November.
It started with getting a positive COVID-19 test in late October, right before our governor closed restaurants back down. That was honestly the day that everything started going downhill. I immediately tried reopening my UIA claim. For those of you who don't know that is the Unemployment Insurance Agency that manages all of the claims requesting benefits. Unfortunately, it has been allowing me to certify but I'm still not receiving my benefits. This has been 8+ weeks at this point. The last time I was able to pay my rent was in October. Through all of this, I have had an incredible landlord who has really worked with me, but we have come to a point where they are now selling the house and I will need to find somewhere to go. I didn't think things would move so quickly, but sadly I have to be out by March 10th. Truthfully, I am nowhere near financially able to move into a new place. Michigan Restaurants open back at 25% on February 1st and I'm worried I won't be able to gather enough funds quickly enough to get into a place. I feel like I'm mere months away from experiencing homelessness.
I feel like I just rambled to y'all, but this is something big for me. I've never been one to ask for help, because I have always had a great support system. This time I'm just asking that if you can donate anything to help with my move-in fees to a new place, I will truly be forever grateful.
