In January 2026, my family and I received notice from our landlord that our lease could be renewed, but with rent increasing from $1,400 to $2,250. Faced with this drastic increase, we began looking for a new home and, by the end of January, had placed a security deposit on a house we planned to move into at the beginning of March.
Unfortunately, once March arrived, communication from this new landlord became spotty and unreliable. We eventually realized that moving in would not be possible and had to find yet another home. Tragically, this second attempt resulted in the same situation, leaving us without a place to move.
As a result, we have been staying in a hotel since March. While this has provided temporary shelter, it has been financially draining. Hotel costs are high, and each day we spend here is money that cannot go toward a security deposit or other essential moving expenses.
We are now looking to raise $4,500, which covers first month’s rent, a 1.5-month security deposit, Michigan’s 6% use tax, and basic moving costs for a new home. Most homes we are considering are around $1,800 per month, so this is the minimum we need to secure a safe, stable place for our family.
We are sharing this fundraiser directly with those we trust and love. If you are able to donate, share thoughtfully within your circle, or simply keep us in your prayers, it would mean the world to us. Every bit of support brings us one step closer to moving into a home where our family can feel safe and secure.
Thank you for your kindness, your love, and for being part of our village during this challenging time.
