Hello Everyone!
On May 1st 2015 I was accepted into the inaugural class of Duke University's School of Medicine Masters of Biomedical Science program. This is an incredible opportunity to study medicine at one of the best universities in the United States! It is beyond a dream come true. It is also a very expensive dream come true!

For those who don't know me, my path towards becoming a physician has been a long road. Since graduating college, I have worked in a multitude of positions; teaching as a supplemental instructor at FAU, working in restaurants, and most recently, restructuring our family business to prepare for the next decade of growth. I have taken many of the roads less traveled along the path to medical school, but I am still firmly intent on reaching my final destination: matriculating into a U.S. medical program. My journey has enriched my character through experiences and forged a strong resolve towards accomplishing tasks. No matter what I do, no matter where I commit my talents, I always find myself coming back to medicine. It is the ultimate calling. A lifelong service to others, demanding all the knowledge man can discover, asking for every ounce of dedication from its tenants. It yields heartbreak, holds emotional challenges that no other career can provide, and will not settle for anything less than 100% commitment. But it promises something that nothing else in life can; the most intimate understanding of the human condition. The very root of the word Doctor: “docēre” Latin for “to teach” embodies that which allows great physicians to heal their patients. To simply diagnose and give someone a prescription is not practicing medicine; it is performing a function of inputs to get an expected output. Understanding the process of disease, making a diagnosis and then translating the complex sciences into laymen’s terms to ensure that a patient knows why they became ill and how they will become better is practicing medicine. Take what you learn, use it to better mankind, and help those you encounter along the way achieve the same. That is what I wish to do.

Your donation is an investment, not just a gift! Investing in my education is investing towards the future of medicine. I have worked hard to get here and now face a large uphill battle not only in academics but also in finances. Medical tuition has increased dramatically in the last decade; the estimated costs for this year are very close to $100,000. I have secured financial aid loans for over $60k and have taken most of my savings to fill in the gaps, but I am still short. Please help this aspiring pre-med in any way you can! Even if you can't donate, please share this with your friends.
Thank you for reading my story, I look forward to one day possibly being your Doctor!
