Bryce has always been one of the first to step up and help others in our community, and now it’s our turn to be there for him. He recently underwent two emergency intestinal surgeries in the same day, and while he focuses on recovery, he’s unable to work for several weeks. With a mortgage, car payments, and everyday bills piling up, this has placed a heavy financial strain on him. We are asking friends, neighbors, and anyone touched by Bryce’s kindness to come together and help ease this burden. Any contribution, big or small, will go directly toward supporting him through this difficult time so he can focus on healing.
Update From Bryce:
Well, by now, many of you have heard that I’ve been hospitalized for a life-threatening injury, but I’m out and healing at home.
Sorry I didn’t reach out to everyone and thank you to everyone that came to visit in the hospital or are planning to visit me here at home in the coming days and weeks.
Small intestine tore the membrane that holds it in place and started pushing through. 100% fatality rate in 24 hours. Not sure how it happened exactly.
Big shout out to everybody that reached out, showed up or prayed for me thank you.
I’ve had several close calls in life. I’ve crashed paragliders into the Earth, endured multiple enemy shockwaves in Iraq, been in six (quick stop) crashes over 65mph, botched a couple really big cliff jumps, got charged by a grizzly bear on the trail to lost lake and even crashed my motorcycle on the interstate in Montana -all without a scratch.
I have never felt invincible, i just like to get out there and try things. I always wear my seatbelt and almost always wear my helmet. Though it’s far from my closest call, this is the most I’ve ever been injured.
Last Saturday night after my surgery, I woke up in a pool of my own blood. My gauze was saturated and the “repair” was leaking profusely. They replaced the staples with stitches, which is a more reliable method of joining skin that is not supported by skeletal structure.
The picture is after the second repair and I insisted that they don’t move me from table to Gurnee to bed again. Gotta let it weld. You can’t just move things around all tacked up.
I have learned a valuable lesson from each and every encounter (except the car crashes apparently), and from this one, I’d say it’s actively maintaining core strength as part of your daily lifestyle. Oops
Anyways, for the next 6 to 8 weeks, I’m open to mild chitchat, deep conversations, and non-conjugal visits.
Thank you God for life and your wisdom.
