Bring Alex Back
Donation protected
Two days ago, my brother Alex left his house to go check on his wife; she was recovering from a C-section for their firstborn, who was born two weeks ago.
Someone fed their dogs to keep them from barking, broke in, and robbed them of a laptop and over $4000.
Here's the thing: Alex doesn't work for a steady paycheck. He's still in college.
Second, the laptop was more crucial than it might seem; it's his way of earn a living, as well as studying and updating my dad's support about their ministry there.
Last and possibly worst of all, money goes a lot further in Peru. That money was a year's worth of savings, set aside to put Alex through school and to keep the family afloat during his wife's recovery during the early life of the newborn. Essentially, he was stripped to nothing.
Everyone I've told this story to has had one of two reactions, or both: hot anger or deep sympathy. While I appreciate it deeply, and it shows that I have surrounded myself with people with a shred of decency, we have got to go a step further. And I get it; there are a thousand causes and a thousand calls to our time, money, and efforts. And if you know that you are stewarding money to the best of your ability, then good on you, and God bless.
But if you're not, and you have the slightest idea of what a good and positive man Alex is, and what he contributes to every ministry and friend group he finds himself in, then please give here. This is not a lazy man's request; I'll contribute the first $100.
Know that no one is called to save the whole world, but everyone is called to mend wounds where he or she finds them.
