BUEN DIA! GOOD DAY!
I am, Scott D. Wilkerson!
Holding onto my "Bucket List" wish until I blow out my 70th Birthday candles on April 27, 2024. Wishing to become a bestselling published author of, "A Mexican Thing!"
These short stories are tall tales about an All-American Texan retiree surviving solely on Social Security checks while living a Hunter S. Thompson lifestyle on the Mayan Riveria...
January 2021, at 67 years old, I booked a one month stay during the Global Pandemic in an unknown beach town called, Puerto Morelos. What was a vacation turned into a home.
The first year, I lived in a beachfront hotel with an assigned palapa overlooking the worlds 2nd largest reef while chasing Tequila with women. It is also where I returned to the love of writing.
When I graduated in 1976 from Journalism with an area of concentration in Advertising and Public Relations, I tried to pursue a career in sports writing. I quickly found no money being one, therefore, I switched to what my true calling would be, "Sales."
In the mornings, I turned my coffee maker on, smoked 3 cigarettes, prayed my body would recover while I sobered up overlooking the six shades of the blue reef. I took note in my journal entries when my internal bet remained true of the 1:8 ratio sacking women in conversation on good music, booze, and drugs from the day's prior recordings.
The salty breeze has brought a different meaning to tranquility. A reminder I have left the All-American rat race. Authentic food feeds my soul, and the worldwide network of friendships has grown to give me a new lease on life.
My hope as an addicted Texan Baby Boomer is requesting support for redemption in the endless summer adventures of, "A Mexican Thing!" To understand by reading the life of the generation imprint before millennials. The ones who wined and dined, scammed, and took... I propose our best qualities happen not because of the best reasons.

MY FIRST ENDORSEMENT
Scott Wilkerson has single-handedly proven that the unrelenting Adventurous American spirit is alive and well and living in Mexico. Aptly named the “Jack Nicholson of the Mayan Riviera” and the “Frank Sinatra of the Sand” Scott’s stories of hijinks and hilarity in paradise will keep you asking for another tequila. And another… and another...

P.S.
I could not have put my handwritten chicken scratch tales together without my best friend, Emily Vieira and the Ghost Writer of "A Mexican Thing!" I finally know what it feels like to have a true friend by a woman.
We collectively finished this manuscript together. Simultaneously she patiently listened and responded to the words I read aloud into her phone's microphone. Mesmerizing to watch until she left her iPhone in a taxi. iPhone vs. Samsung? The iPhone wins!
Her first edit was easy using the iPhone. Samsung on the other hand turned the stories into a puzzle in dire need of being refined and fine-tuned. Not once did she give up!
"Tio, one day at a time."
Misunderstanding, mistypes, mispunctuations, miscomprehension, mistake by Samsung's auto correct. She committed to recompose, edited, print, reread, re-edited, reread, and re-printed the stories. My wild adventurous life started to appear on the screen.
Our final edit before handing it over to the publishing company, I followed along in a sixteen-font printed copy. Three days a week I boarded the public transit. Monday through Wednesday we worked from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and it kept me sober.
Those days took courage to show up. The “One day at a time,’ turned into, “One story at a time.” We pieced the ending back to the beginning. She continued to nudge and nurture me to finish the book. She spent hours editing and reading over and over. She additionally added photos from my excursion at the Mayan Riveria. We collaborated with her ideas to ensure this book has a different feel.
Emily is sincere, thoughtful, and a highly intelligent human being. She is relentless. It will be exactly as it should be. Her willpower will assist us both in self-publishing this book. I'm so grateful she is on my team.
Any extra proceeds go towards "A Mexican Thing!" efforts to create content for branding and marketing... BOOG, is destined to be on the BIG screen!
... Congratulating Emily on 3 months of sobriety...
Her words not mine:
“Netflix will come knocking, not because of the women you chased with the booze, but for the stories you will tell of new beginnings in understanding a Baby Boomers guide to redemption. Again, is broken down into, a gain.”
A MEXICAN + AMERICAN FAMILY... Thank you!
