Help save Rocco from cancer
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
Rocco will be having surgery to remove a cancerous Mast Cell Tumor on his rib cage on 5/21/15 and I need some help covering the cost of surgery and after care.
Rocco is a 10 1/2 year old rescue dog who had been to two homes before he found a forever home with me. He was badly abused in the first home he went to and suffered from two broken legs. Those people returned him to the breeder and said he was an aggressive dog (I wonder why!). The next home he went to returned him to the same breeder and said he was unfriendly. This doesnt surprise me since he was still mending from two broken legs and was probably scared out of his mind.
I found Rocco by chance. I went to that same breeder (bad, I know) to look at puppies and this little man (Rocco), all two pounds of him, hobbled out and jumped on my lap. He immediately started barking at the puppies to keep them away from me - I like to think he was claiming me as his own. The breeder came running into the room and asked his Rocco had hurt me. He then told me Rocco's story. Rocco was 2 pounds at the time and only 4 months old. The breeder was preparing to put Rocco to sleep because he was "too aggressive" to be adopted out. I took Rocco home with me that day and never looked back. By far it was the best decision I have ever made. We have been together for over 10 years and every day I have with him fills my heart with happiness.
For those of you who know Rocco, you know that he is the light of my life and a really sweet little guy with a huge personality. He's taught me to love with my entire heart, he makes me incredibly happy every day and I just can't picture my life without him. While I often refer to him as "Six pounds of badass" I am very worried that the fight against cancer is going to be a tough one for the little guy.
Generally I would never ask for this type of help but, unfortunately, I will also have to have surgery of my own in mid-June and just don't have the bandwidth to cover the cost of both surgeries right now.
Anything you can do to help Rocco out would be greatly appreciated. Even a donation of $5 would help us if we get enough donors. Please spread the word!
Lots of love,
Rocco and Monique
