Uganda Spring Break Missions Trip
Donation protected
This past fall I began my on-campus experience at Moody Bible Institute as a Sophomore studying pre-counseling/ Human services. When I left home this left fall the one thing the Lord pressed upon my heart was to make this journey at Moody Bible Institute a “God thing” and not a “Sam thing.” What I mean by that is, I didn’t want to do things simply for my glory. I didn’t want to do things just to make me happy or stay in my little “Christian box.” I knew this semester was going to be different than the previous two. Whether I wanted to embrace that or would show in a matter of time.
You might be asking the question, “Sam, why do you want to go to Uganda?” I tell you I didn’t at first. Uganda was not my first instinct choice put probably my last. When all the missions trips were presented in a special chapel at Moody I naturally gravitated to the ones going to Europe. Going to London or France has always been a big dream of mine. As I sat in the Torrey-Gray Auditorium the Lord was knocking on my brain saying, “Sam, if you went to Europe for a missions trip would you be going for ministry or for yourself?” I was convicted and examined my heart to realize that’s exactly why I was interested in Europe. In response, I focused in on the trips that I knew I wouldn’t choose out of selfishness. The three trips that stood out were the ones to the Philippians, Haiti, and Uganda. The trip to Uganda was pressed on my heart and I knew right then and there that’s where God wanted me to be. I didn’t know why, and I didn’t know for what purpose. All I knew was that I needed to be willing. So, I’m not going because I wanted to go, but because God wanted me to go.
The money raised will go to supporting my trip to Uganda this Spring. The money will cover airfare, food and housing, transportation in Uganda and teaching material. I’m currently in the process of raising a minimum of 10% by December 4th as a down payment for the trip and then the rest of the money is due early in March.
My first request is for prayer for me and my team during this time of support raising and preparing our hearts and minds for the people of Uganda. Don’t pray that God will provide for all of us but that He will give us the faith to believe that He will provide the funds. Pray for wisdom as all of us will have opportunities to teach and some to preach. I am personally excited to spend time with the different girls in Uganda who have dropped out of school and need encouragement and just a reminder of Christ’s love.
Pray that this trip will be a “God thing” and not a “Us thing.”
All I ask for is prayers. If the Lord has led you to support me financially than praise Him for using you in this way. God uses us all in different ways. Some of you will just pray for me. Some of you will send me notes of encouragement and advice and some of you will give. All are equal in the kingdom of God, which in the end is the only thing that matters.

My team and I are committed to devoting this trip to the head of the Church, Jesus Christ alone. We’re not going to Uganda to be the spotlight or to be a revelation. We are going to be servants. There will be times for sharing the gospel and outreach, but the larger portion of our trip encouragement and training of the believers that are already there in Uganda. God is already doing work there. It will be a privilege to be a part of the ministry in Uganda. If you would like to read about all the details of the trip all of the information feel free to reach out and ask me for a missions letter!
Many blessings to you all!
