NOVEMBER FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE!
It has been 8 months since the Illinois Stay-at-Home Order, and many of us may feel Covid-fatigued. However, now, more than ever, is the time to continue supporting our essential, front line workers.
Restaurant industry employees have continued to show up for us ALL DAY EVERY DAY, even through a global health crisis so we can enjoy time with our loved ones. One restaurant that is especially on my heart is Jeong. Jeong, which is the Korean word for "special connection or bond," lives out its name. Every person at Jeong, from the warm front-of-the-house to the meticulous and passionate culinary staff, does their part in making every customer feel like family. Back in March, we were able to raise over $10,000 for their staff. ALL the proceeds were split evenly between their 11 employees who were temporarily without work or pay. And just weeks after reopening, they have had to close their doors once more and make the heartbreaking decision again to downsize and indefinitely lay off most of their employees. All proceeds will go to financially support the 6 employees who are temporarily without work or pay. Our goal is to raise enough money to support rent, healthcare, and living expenses.
