Damien & Britt's road to recovery

Donation protected

On September 27, 2015, Damien Petersen was driving his motorcycle in Durban, South Africa, when the car in front of him hit their brakes and attempted a u-turn in front of him.  He swerved to avoid hitting that vehicle and he was hit by another vehicle.  Damien was thrown 24' on impact, rushed to the hospital, where they discovered internal bleeding and multiple broken bones.  He has a broken hip, femur, shin and two shattered knees, along with the entire upper part of his body suffering from severe road rash.  Currently Damien is awaiting surgery and he is on a waiting list, that could take anywhere from 1-6 weeks.  We are praying for that to happen as quickly as possible.  Once all the surgeries have been performed, he will have to go to occupational therapy to learn to walk again.

Prior to the accident Damien and Brittany Lyon were working on a fiance visa to bring Damien to the US to be married on May 28, 2016, in South Bend, IN.  Due to the accident, the wedding has been post poned, and the wedding venue cancelled so they can focus totally on Damien's recovery.  Brittany is taking a leave from her job to fly to South Africa to help Damien begin his long recovery, and Damien will be unable to work, and walk for a very long time.

We are thankful to God for sparing Damien's life!  We are thankful that Brittany's employers are allowing her to take this leave to be with Damien.

We are setting this GO FUND ME page up as a way to encourage them as  there are so many unknown expenses, with loss of work, flights, and extensive medical bills, with no health insurance in place for Damien in South Africa.  We ask that you give as the Lord leads, and no donation is too small.   Anything that is recieved will be used for expenses incurred from this unfortunate accident.

We thank everyone for the outpour of love and prayers that we have received thus far, and to God for seeing us through this and it will be in front of God and our family and friends that they will say 'I DO' in God's timing after this hurtle is behind them.

Please continue to follow us on facebook for updates on Damien's recovery.
