My name is Sara Gladish.  My niece, Victoria Linn is the beautiful, kind-hearted girl pictured.  She is a senior at Rivet this year. After experiencing severe headaches, nausea, vomiting and vision changes she was taken to GSH ER where a MRI showed a 4cm tumor near the 4th ventricle of her brain.  She was then transferred to Riley and had a benign pilocytic astrocytoma removed July 30, during a very long and tedious surgery taking over 10 hours.  She has been recovering and continues to do well, however her ability to breath on her own all the time is not quite recovered enough.   She went back to surgery August 14 to have a tracheostomy tube placed.   This should allow her more freedom for rehab and help her get stronger, in hopes that the tracheostomy can eventually be removed.   Unfortunately, due to COVID, there are many visitor restrictions.   Only the legal guardians, Chris and Amanda are allowed to be with Val, and NOT at the same time.  They must wait a minimum of 48 hours before changing places.  The Ronald McDonald house is also closed due to COVID.   So, as you can imagine, this is a trying time.  They are taking turns staying with her while the other is working when possible, managing the household and taking care of their son.   Victoria’s brother, Cameron, just started his freshman year at Rivet.  I have set up this page to help with medical, travel and miscellaneous expenses already incurred and ones that will continue to accrue over Val’s road to recovery.   We feel a full recovery will happen, it just might take some time.  Prayers are always appreciated, but if you feel led, you can donate funds as well.  Thank you!
