Our pharmacy team is starting a GoFundMe account for our beloved friend Kathy. Kathy is such a light to our department. She is always so welcoming and kind, ready to help anyone. It’s so easy to talk to her about anything. She is a mother figure to many of us. Kathy makes everyone feels seen and appreciated. She organizes many of the parties to recognize birthdays, baby showers, retirements, and department departures. No one asks her to. She cleans up after all of those parties and makes sure to save food for the oncoming shifts. Kathy is the glue that holds the department together as she knows how every process runs and always has ideas in how to make things better. Kathy is also very devoted to her family and talks about them all the time. She is a great mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to all those around her. Just like at work, she is cheering on her daughters and grandkids at graduations, sporting events, and supporting all those around her in every way possible.

When we found out about her breast cancer diagnosis, we were all devastated and wanted to help and be there for her. Kathy is currently undergoing chemotherapy which has many unpleasant side effects on her body, but she is a fighter. She is still her feisty self and we are so happy to still see her in our department. Future treatment plans include radiation and then surgery. Not only will treatment and recovery be challenging mentally, physically, and emotionally, but she is already seeing the financial implications. Luckily, we can all help Kathy out! We want to raise funds to cover her medical bills and any other unexpected expenses that she will encounter in the future months.
