Hi, my name is Jeanne and I am Kyle's fiance. Around 11 am on 5/26/23 at Timberline, Kyle was doing a snowboarding trick called a 50-50 on a skinny rail that shot up at the end. His balance was thrown off and he fell and impacted his abdomen on the end of the rail. The impact was so hard that it perforated his small intestine in multiple places. He ended up needing to be air lifted from Mt. Hood Meadows (closest clinic) and required emergency surgery at the nearest trauma center, Legacy Emanuel in Portland, OR. The part of his small intestine that was perforated (12 inches) was resected and the surgeon did an anastomosis (fusion basically) of the bowels that were not affected by the perforation. He is now admitted on an inpatient trauma unit and he will be here for a few days or longer due to needing iv antibiotics and bowel rest, treating his pain and hopefully will be able to get clear liquids soon. I am creating a gofundme for him because we all know how expensive medical bills are, especially being helicoptered into the hospital and how insurance doesn't cover everything.
